Update an Old Sofa with New Legs!

Did you know that you can order new legs for your sofa on Amazon? Well, you can, and I just this did for two different sectional couches in my house.

We’re going to be stuck at home for several weeks while the Coronavirus spreads through the Seattle area. So what better way to pass the time, than a one-room makeover? I convinced Peter to let me re-do his TV room/ office while he was still half-asleep one morning. So here we are. First on the list was painting the walls. Now that’s done, so today we’re replacing the sofa legs. I would have done this oh-so-simple update years ago if I’d known it was so inexpensive and easy to do!

Here’s a before picture of the room. Sorry I know it’s a bit of a mess. That’s another thing we’ll be working on…

The couch in the TV room is an older Karlstad sectional from Ikea. The overall look of the sofa was modern enough, but the legs just looked cheap. A little bit too Ikea, if you know what I mean. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a huge Ikea fan, but I think we can all agree that some of their products could use a bit of an upgrade.

So I ordered these gorgeous solid wood walnut-stained legs from Amazon. The original Ikea couch legs were 6″, and I wanted to keep the height the same. But they do come in other heights.

And there you have it! Fresh sofa legs in about 15 minutes (unless you count the time you’ll spend vacuuming cheerios up after turning the couch over).
