Easy and inexpensive Mother’s Day Gift Ideas to make yourself!

I love to make and receive thoughtful handmade gifts… especially when they’re stylish and useful too! Here are a few of my favorites for Mother’s Day, with links to the full tutorials. Many of these are great for the kids to help with too. Enjoy!
Mason Jar Soy Candles
Making candles can be complicated… but it certainly doesn’t have to be! These gorgeously simple scented soy candles are quick, easy and so fun to make. Plus you can customize them with your own scents and colors. You can also make beeswax candles, though they’re a little bit trickier.
Wax Melts
Wax melts are quick and easy to make in the microwave, and another great project for the kiddos to help with. My youngest loves to use the eye dropper to fill the molds. You can find the tutorial for these easy soy wax melts and many others here. You can also use beeswax.

Citrus-Stamped Tea Towels
I love this fun hand-printed tea towel project for spring time!
Homemade Bubble Bath
If you’ve tried making homemade bubble bath before and it didn’t produce many bubbles, give this one a try. It’s all about the secret ingredient (spoiler! it’s not castile soap!). Here’s the basic recipe, and here’s a similar recipe with epsom salt to soothe sore muscles.

DIY Modern Indoor Plant Pots
This mini-project is inexpensive, fun and literally takes 10 minutes! Add a cool plant (or a realistic faux plant) and you’re set. You can find the full tutorial here.
Quick & Easy Homemade Bath Salts
My girls love to help make bath salt. And it can be customized with Mom’s favorite scent! This rose-scented bath salt is especially nice for Mother’s Day.

Bubble Bath Salt
This is a variation on the recipe above and it makes a pretty fabulous mother’s day gift if I do say so myself! Here’s the tutorial.
Peppermint & Tea Tree Foot Soak
This foot soak recipe is another variation on bath salts, but for tired achy feet!

Bath Bombs
Bath bombs take a little more effort than bath salts, but the results are worth it! You can customize the color and essential oils to your liking. Here’s my basic recipe for beginners, and here’s a slightly more advanced bubble bath bomb tutorial.

Easy DIY Sharpie Coasters
This project is super-fun and the kids can help too! I did it with my daughter’s 2nd grade class for their school auction a few years back. They colored the tiles with Sharpies, then I lit them on fire. The kiddos were definitely impressed! You can see the full tutorial here.
Coffee Filter Flowers
Check out these pretty and fun coffee filter flowers from Sunnyside Home and get the full tutorial.

Homemade Room Spray
This all-natural room spray recipe had just three ingredients (and one of them is water)! It’s great for freshening up bedding, bathrooms, or just spritzing for some nice fragrance. You can find the recipe here.
